Welcome to the new page of the NCLG. There are so many exciting things going on!

From a recent e-mail, an exciting announcement:

"This is to let you know about a new journal that will be launching soon.

VATES: The Journal of New Latin Poetry is the only publication whose express aim is to provide a forum for new Latin verse -- and to encourage as many people as possible to contribute their own verses.

I want to encourage anyone and everyone from Classics professors to Latin novices to try their hand at writing poetry in Latin. For anyone who has ever done it or ever wanted to but never quite had either the inclination or the courage, this is their chance to do something about it.

Poetry does not have to be classical or quantitative -- though of course many people will prefer to write using Roman models -- since VATES is to be a forum for any and all kinds of Latin verse, be it rhymed, rhythmic, or written as a song lyric.

So, if there are any budding Latin poets out there, do please ask them to contact me, the editor, at publisher@pineapplepubs.co.uk for more information about the journal and how they can contribute.
