“Supporting Young Learners” Book and Resource Grants

Our previous “Book Grant” is changing its name and terms to better serve your needs! The National Committee for Latin and Greek continues to offer funds for small grants, but has revised the parameters. If you are an ACL member and are starting a new program, adding a new unit, or are significantly expanding an existing program that serves primarily elementary or middle school age students, you can apply to the NCLG for a mini-grant of up to $300 in order to purchase books or resource materials from the American Classical League's TMRC, including materials from Excellence Through Classics, which focuses on elementary and beginning programs. There is now no set deadline for this award, but please give as much advance notice as possible when applying. To explore details and apply, see the application link in the sidebar.

Applications will be accepted at any time and will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and the awardees from each year will be announced at the ACL Institute in June. Every effort will be made to issue checks to allow for purchasing books before the start date of the new program.

If you are a TEACHER who is a member of the American Classical League or the Society for Classical Studies, you are eligible to apply.  If your grant request is approved, you agree to write a 200 - 300 word article about your program and how it helped to promote the study of Classics.  Articles with photos or lesson ideas may be published in the ACL Newsletter or may be posted on the NCLG website.

If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact the NCLG Elementary School Chair, Zee Ann Poerio.
