FEEDBACK
National
Latin Teacher Recruitment Week
This is an incomplete list of colleges and universities which
provide teacher training across North America. The
list below
includes contact information, websites, and whether the program has
scholarships (scholarship information is in
italics). (Some of the information hasn't
been reformatted yet for this new website, so please bear with me.)If you would like to add or correct any information,
please email Ginny Lindzey at
ginlindzey@lindzey.us.
You may also wish to consult John D.
Muccigrosso's
Undergraduate
Programs in Classics, but his list does not specifically focus
on teacher training programs.
Some good advice offered by Helma Dik on
the classics list: "Anecdotal evidence suggests, though,
that a personal statement that talks about one serious academic
enthusiasm works well in admissions anywhere, especially a
sufficiently geeky one like Classics. Students who combine such a
statement with a campus visit that includes not just admissions, but
a conversation with the undergraduate advisor in Classics, and a
class visit, are in better shape." There
was also talk about general humanities scholarships that might be
available at the institution of choice. So do not
assume that just because there is no indication of scholarships
listed at the colleges below, that none can be found at that
institution.
