Need a Latin Teacher?

This ad comes in three forms, all in one PDF file NEW FOR 2008. We call this an ad but I guess it is more of three versions of a flyer which you can post on a bulletin board, in a classics lounge or library, or your office door.

Teachers
POSTER

This NLTRW poster (11"X17"--which can be reduced to 8.5" X 11"), designed by Ginny Lindzey, features photos of a diverse group of Latin teachers (most of whom are on the Latinteach list). The caption on it reads, "Yesterday's Latin teachers, today's Latin teachers...  Who will be tomorrow's Latin teachers? Maybe YOU!"

Consider Teaching Latin in the 21st Century

The original form of this brochure was developed by Rick LaFleur at the University of Georgia. Full-color glossy print versions are still available from Tom Sienkewicz at toms@monm.edu. A scan/PDF file of the brochure can be found/printed from Tom's previous CPL pages. A black and white PDF version of this brochure is also available, and perfect for quick printing and distributing.

There is also a poster with the same title, also developed by Rick LaFleur. As with the brochure, the full-color glossy poster is available from Tom Sienkewicz at toms@monm.edu. A scan/PDF file of the poster can be found/printed from Tom's previous CPL pages.

Some Top Reasons to Teach at the Pre-Collegiate Level

This brochure in PDF format was redesigned in 2004. The quotes within are from real teachers who are members of the Latinteach listserve. If you were expecting such reasons as "June, July, and August," you will be in for a big surprise.

Secondary Considerations

This brochure in PDF format was also designed in 2003 for the first NLTRW. It contains testimonials from individuals with PhD's who are teaching at the secondary level and enjoying it tremendously.

What Do You Make?

This anonymous flyer in PDF format can be a good springboard for a discussion about the worth of teaching.

TCA Survey of Admissions Counselors

The TCA Survey of Admissions Counselors, in PDF format, was completed in 2002. Funded in part by the ACL, this survey asked admission counselors at universities all across the country their opinion about the study of Latin. Attractively typeset, this set of flyers is something every teacher should keep on hand to distribute to administrators, parents, counselors, and the community in general.

NLTRW Bookmarkers

These bookmarkers have five Latin phrases plus NLTRW info. Copy onto card stock and laminate to encourage students to keep these around. Coordinate these bookmarkers with the NLTRW t-shirts (see above).

Colleges with Latin Teacher Prep

These two brochures were designed in 2003. We hope that more in a similar fashion will be ready in 2005.

For more on colleges with Latin Teacher prep programs, go to the Colleges and Scholarships page.

NLTRW Promo
This flyer was developed by Tom Sienkewicz to provide colleagues with some ideas on how to proceed with NLTRW. While not for distribution to your students, this is an ideal flyer to hand out to other teachers at meetings and JCL conventions.

So you want to be a Latin Teacher?

This new brochure is designed specifically for college students who have declared their interest in becoming a certified teachers. "So You Want to be a Latin Teachers" is a guide to developing strong reading skills and accurate oral pronunciation and fluidity, and plus it explores available pedagogical materials both in print and online. This is a must for any department training teachers.
